Western Montgomery County Canalway Trail

Terry Potoczny, John Geesler, Ernie Gee, Barb Spraker, Rose Jubar, Harold Countryman, Stanley Johnson and Dick Mosher, all volunteers, started working on St.Johnsville's bike path in 1995.

New York State Canal Corporation started a Bike Path that followed the old railroads, and this one would connect to some started already where it would connect across NY state. It is open to all. In 1999 Terry helped get 2,000 signatures to complete the Western Montgomery County Canalway Trail.

Plans were to finish in 1999, but there was not adequate funding. This year, 2003, the path was covered in fine gravel, hopefully blacktop later.
